Two (or more) materials can be combined into one part by overmolding. The overmolding process is generally a plastic resin, a soft resin, which is usually completed by two injection molding processes. Resin formulations and colors may vary. While this process can produce a product with different color combinations, it is also very convenient that it eliminates secondary operations. Overmolding is great for tools with handles, holding objects, robots that require rubber handles, or just to enhance the look of parts with different colors.
